Securing USB Flash Drive With Bitlocker

At the time Microsoft introduced Windows Vista, One of the security features on the operating system is Bitlocker, encryption system designed to protect sensitive data, if ever lost or stolen computers, especially laptops. With the increasing use of USB Flash Drive lost or stolen sensitive data becomes increasingly large as it is easier to lose or steal a device no bigger than a chewing gum. To protect data stored on a USB flash drive, Microsoft Windows 7 has an encryption feature called Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

Basically, Bitlocker allows us to encrypt a USB Flas drives and restrict access with a password. Without the password, then the USB flash drive becomes useless. At the time of connecting a USB flash drive to a computer using the operating system Windows 7, you will be prompted to enter a password. After that, only you can read and write to the flash drive as usual.
When the encryption process, Windows7 install a special reader to a flash drive. At the time you connect your flash drive to a computer running XP or Vista, Bitlocker To Go Reader takes control, asking for passwords, and then make a flash drive become read only.

Bitlocker can be used by home users or business. In a domain system, administrators can create a policy that requires users to implement Bitlocker protection to the removable drive before writing to the device. In addition, can be determined also password length and complexity.
